Accountable Iowa is a grassroots coalition of citizens across the state, advocating for our core values. As Iowans:
We know the best protection from a dangerous corporate nursing home, a reckless driver, a negligent hospital, or a corrupt employer is our right to hold them accountable in a court of law;
We oppose any effort by politicians, special interests, or corporate lobbyists to force a one-size-fits-all, government-mandated dollar value on human life;
We recognize that the right to trial by a citizen jury, free from government-mandated limits, is a constitutional right protected by the 7th Amendment;
We believe an Iowa citizen jury should have the right to hold companies accountable when they hurt our loved ones or us; and
We believe that allowing the state legislature to force a cap on damages that can be collected in the legal matters involving serious injury or death is a government overreach that takes power away from a citizen jury and tilts the scales in favor of big government and state politicians.
